PART TWO THE STRESS RESPONSE... The Stress Response is a state of physiological arousal consisting of a series of body changes that gives us the energy to deal with stressors. In the 1920's Walter Cannon hypothesised that these physical changes were an extremely useful evolutionary adaptation. The Stress Response is indeed very useful for survival:
Stress is Not a Bad Thing! Despite the "bad press" that stress has been getting - it is really a good thing. Without it we wouldn't have any energy. How does it work? (Figure 1).
